CRAVE COMMUNITY POLICY

Last Updated May 31, 2011

A good general rule for participating on comment threads on Crave is to keep discussions friendly, polite, and, most importantly, FUN! If you are doing that then you should never encounter a problem. However, keep the following rules in mind:

Keep it on topic, keep it constructive

  • When you make a comment it should be related to the listing you are commenting on. For example, offering a different price, commenting on the mold, asking a question about the completeness of the figure, etc.
    • Occasionally extended threads on Crave that have turned into conversations can get off topic, and as long as they are friendly and the seller is involved or comfortable with it that is fine. Part of what makes Crave great after all is meeting other fans and making friends!
  • Comments should be constructive and geared towards providing information on the listing or positive feedback. In other words, if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. A listing with no positive comments tends to speak for itself.
  • If you are unsure about whether your comment is appropriate, ask yourself the following questions:
    • How is my comment relevant to this listing?
    • What effect will it have on the listing and the seller?
    • How will it reflect back on me and my reputation as a Crave user?
    • Would I say this in person?

Attacks, Accusations, harassment, and other negative behaviors are not acceptable

  • Attacks, accusations, and harassment on Crave are completely unacceptable, period. The circumstances are irrelevant – just don’t do it.
  • Examples of attacks, accusations, harassment and other negative behavior includes but are not limited to:
    • Directly attacking a specific user or their listing or any listing
    • “Chasing” users through the site, harassing or attacking them on various listing pages or comment threads
    • Attempting to steer traffic from other listings to your own or to other sites. As stated before, comments should be geared towards the listing in question, not steering people away from them.
      • Do not say that your price on the same item is better or name a place where the item can be found cheaper. Comments should apply to the listing in question not other listings or shops.
    • Abusive language of any kind, even if it is not directed at another user.
    • Posting a listing or comment with the specific intent of annoying or antagonizing others.
  • Retaliating against an offensive user is not acceptable behavior - no exceptions.
    • Users who participate in abusive, offensive or inappropriate behavior will all face the same consequences, REGARDLESS of how the inappropriate behavior started.
      • For example, if a user posts an inappropriate comment and you respond to that message with another inappropriate comment, you too will have violated Crave community policy and you will face the same consequences as the individual who posted the original comment.
      • We recommend that you do not reply to offensive comments, but if you have to respond, do so in a friendly and civil manner. Such as “I appreciate your feedback, but Crave let’s me post at whatever price I want and this is the price I am comfortable selling this figure at.”
    • If someone is being abusive, offensive or inappropriate do not stoop to his or her level. Crave members notice problem users and remember them when deciding to buy. Problem users do not need help making a name for themselves and engaging in digital combat with them will only negatively affect your reputation, so don’t do it.
  • Things that happen outside of Crave are irrelevant to the site and should not be brought up in Crave discussions. If you have a problem with a Crave user because of something that happened at a convention or on another site, Crave is not the place to talk about it.

Abuse and Disrespectful Behavior Will Not Be Tolerated:

  • Please show your fellow users the same respect you would like shown to you. There are consequences for abusing community members:
    • The first time a user violates a Crave community policy they will receive a warning from the Crave staff
    • The second offense after the warning will result in a temporary suspension of the problem user’s commenting and selling capabilities on Crave.
    • If after having their account functions reinstated a user violates Crave community policy for a 3rd time they will be permanently banned from the site.
  • It does not matter what events led to negative behavior. If you participate in it, you will face consequences, no exceptions.

What should I do if I encounter a problem user or comments that make me uncomfortable?

  • Crave users have two options should they encounter a problem user.
    • You can flag the comment in question
      • Flagging is completely anonymous and if a small number of users agree that a comment is inappropriate and flag it, the comment is automatically removed.
    • Contact a member of the crave staff by emailing support@crave.com. Be sure to explain the nature of the comment in question, where on the site it can be found, and why it makes you uncomfortable.
      • It is Crave’s job to deal with negative users and it is your job to have fun. Do not approach or engage in communicating with a negative user, just flag the comment and alert us to the situation.
      • If you have to respond, do not attack them or you will face the same consequences they would.

The Bottom Line:

The purpose of Crave is to have fun, buy, sell & discuss the collectibles we love, and make new friends. Commenting should encourage at least one of these behaviors and if you want to post something that does not help people have fun, make sales, or meet and make new friends do not post it. Our community is a passionate group of fans, and most of them are here to have a good time and nothing else. If that is something you can get behind AWESOME! Come on in because we are thrilled to have you! If you can’t be positive then Crave may not be the community for you.
